Ruth Botsford Obituary

Ruth J. Botsford, 97, of Bethlehem, passed away peacefully Friday, January 17, 2020 at home with her loving son by her side.  She was the wife of the late James H. Botsford, who passed away in 1984.  Born in Louisville, KY, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Mary Denzinger.  Ruth honorably served her country in the U.S. Navy during Pearl Harbor and World War II. While living in Texas, she was employed by the Department of Justice where she worked for Lyndon B. Johnson.  After getting married and moving to Bethlehem, Ruth and her husband owned and operated Howard Engineering, Co., where she was involved in all aspects of the business.  One of their biggest inventions was the Botsball, which was a wet globe thermometer that measured real feel temperature.  Ruth was a member of Christ UCC, Bethlehem.  She enjoyed painting, arranging flowers and was an active member of Bethlehem Garden Club.  She always had her home beautifully decorated for the holidays and events.

Survivors: She will be lovingly remembered by her son, Gary Botsford, with whom she resided; daughter, Shirley Botsford, of Beacon, NY; brother, Stanley Denzinger, and his wife, Jean, of Georgia.
Services: A Graveside service will be held 1 P.M. on Tuesday, January 21, 2020 at Altonah Cemetery, Macada and Altonah Roads, Bethlehem. Ruth’s arrangements have been entrusted to the Cantelmi Long Funeral Home, Bethlehem. A memory tribute may be placed at www.cantelmifuneralhome.com.

Contributions: In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Christ Church UCC, 75 E. Market Street, Bethlehem, PA 18018.
