Paul Gleason Obituary

We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of Paul Clement Gleason, 98, of Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. Paul died peacefully at home on Saturday, January 13, 2024, surrounded by his beloved family. Born in Coney Island, Brooklyn on November 23, 1925, Paul was the proud 7tth son of Benedict and Mary (Skelly) Gleason, of Templemore and Longford, Ireland, respectively. A truly larger-than-life personality, Paul will be lovingly remembered for his hearty laugh, prolific storytelling, and love of Ireland.

A graduate of St. John’s University School of Law in NY, Paul began his career as a clerk with the Federal Bureau of Investigation. With the outset of World War II, he volunteered to serve his country as a flight cadet in the United States Army, and upon return home from war, continued his career at the FBI, attaining the status of a Special Agent. Paul subsequently left the U.S. Government for a career with IBM, where he worked for more than 30 years in sales and corporate security before retiring in 1980. A devout Catholic, Paul was a member of Notre Dame of Bethlehem Church.

Paul is predeceased by his wonderful wife of 71 years, Patricia M. (Louprette) Gleason and six older brothers. He is survived by six loving children: James P. Gleason (Missy Johnston) of Lexington, KY; Thomas F. Gleason (Annemarie) of East Greenbush, NY; Paul E. Gleason (Joanne Nannery Gleason) of Washington, DC; Robert J. Gleason (Barbara) of Wingdale, NY; Mary Stehlin-Saravitz (Eugene) of Bethlehem, PA; and Kathleen Jordon (John) of Doylestown, PA; along with 16 grandchildren: Courtney, Colleen, Paul, Rush, Caitlin, Tara, Michael, John, Kevin, Nora, Grace, Jake, Ryan, Thomas, Daniel, and Jackie, and ten great-grandchildren.
