Olimpio "Limpy" Fernandes, 87, of Bethlehem, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 24, 2021 at Lehigh Valley Hospital, Muhlenberg. He was the devoted husband of Bernadine “Berny"(DeBellis) Fernandes with whom he shared over 67 years of loving marriage. Born in Bethlehem, he was the son of the late Julio and Deolinda (Pereira) Fernandes. Olimpio honorably served his country in the United States Navy. He owned and operated Fernandes Auto Service in Bethlehem for many years as well as working for the City of Bethlehem and Lehigh University. He was a faithful member of Incarnation of our Lord Parish, Bethlehem. Olimpio was a lifetime member of the Portuguese American Club and Lehigh Valley Snowmobile Association. He was an avid Dallas Cowboys fan and loved spending time with his family.
Survivors: In addition to his loving wife Bernadine, he will be lovingly remembered by his daughters Debra Albright and husband Richard, Susan Repsher and her husband Christopher and Michele Fernandes and companion Craig; grandchildren Jessica LaBarge (Jeffrey), Allison Hildabrant (Jordan), Lauren Latham, Marques Repsher, Mason Repsher (Shauna) and Austin Repsher and his 7 loving great grandchildren. Olimpio was preceded in death by his sister Lorraine Goncalves, brother Joseph Fernandes and grandson Captain Robert Sean Latham.
Services: Services will be private and at the convenience of the family. Olimpio’s arrangements have been entrusted to the Cantelmi Long Funeral Home, Bethlehem. A memory tribute may be placed at www.cantelmifuneralhome.com.
