Kathryn Rosemary (Harrison) Umstead

Kathryn Rosemary (Harrison) Umstead, 93, of Allentown, died peacefully on March 20,2024 surrounded by her loving family at the St. Luke’s Hospice House in Bethlehem, PA.  Born in Fountain Hill on July 30, 1930, she was the daughter of the late Violet (Gress) and Gustave Harrison.  Kathryn was the wife of Richard J. Umstead who passed away on January 27, 2024. Together they spent 73 wonderful years together.

 Kathryn graduated from Fountain Hill High School and attended Bethlehem Business School and Northampton Community College before working as a hearing stenographer for the PA Unemployment Board of Review for 30 years.  She was a life member of St Paul’s Lutheran Church in Fountain Hill.  She and Dick enjoyed volunteering at Musikfest, Mayfair, and the Bethlehem Senior Center.  They opened their home to foreign exchange students and maintained contact with them throughout the years.  She and Dick  enjoyed searching for antiques and restoring them back to  things of beauty to be shared with family and friends.

Kathryn will be lovingly remembered by her daughter, Suzanne Stinner, her husband Douglas, and their children, Alexandra Moy (Greg), Sydney, and Ethan; and son, Jeffrey, his wife Terry, and their children, Garth and Garret. 

In addition to her husband and parents Kathryn was predeceased by her sisters Claire Ozakusky and Elizabeth (Betsy) Cuppy; and her brothers Richard, John and Gustave Harrison.

A Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, March 26, 2024 at 12 PM at Cantelmi Funeral Home, 1311 Broadway, Fountain Hill PA 18015 where the family will receive relatives and friends from 11:00 AM until the time of the service.   Burial will be private at the convenience of the family.
