Joyce A. (Begies) Szilagyi

Joyce A. (Begies) Szilagyi, 85, of Bethlehem, passed away Monday, May 15, 2023. She was the beloved wife of Charles G. Szilagyi with whom she shared over 63 years of loving marriage. Born on June 1, 1937 in Pen Argyl, she was the daughter of the late John and Mary (Toth) Begies.

Joyce was a 1955 graduate of Pen Argyl H.S. and a 1959 graduate of St. Luke’s School of Nursing. She was an administrative assistant for her husband’s business Szilagyi Fuel Co. Inc., for many years until she retired. Joyce was a member of the St. Theresa, Hellertown, and the former St John Capistrano, Bethlehem. She enjoyed playing pinochle and traveling mostly to Las Vegas and Atlantic City. Above all she cherished her time spent with her family especially her grandchildren.

Survivors: Joyce will be lovingly remembered by her husband, Charles; sons, Jeffrey Szilagyi and wife Susan of Hellertown, Charles Szilagyi and wife Sue of Hellertown, and Scott Szilagyi of Bethlehem; grandchildren, Christopher Szilagyi and wife Tara, Matthew Szilagyi and companion Maelynn Grube, Nicole Brickey and husband Andrew, and Jessica Tomasetti and husband Ron; sister-in-law, Theresa Springer and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by brothers, John Begies and Jim Begies.

Services: A funeral service will be held on Friday, May 19, 2023 at 10:00 AM at Cantelmi Long Funeral Home, 500 Linden St., Bethlehem PA where relatives and friends can call from 9:00 AM until the time of service. Burial will follow at Holy Saviour Cemetery, Bethlehem. A memory tribute may be placed at www.cantelmifuneralhome.com.
