John DeAngelo, Jr., 84, of Whitehall, passed away Tuesday, April 12, 2022. He was the beloved husband of Catherine P. (Tees) DeAngelo with whom he celebrated 63 years of marriage on November 8, 2021. Born in Elmhurst, Queens, NY, he was the son of the late John and Josephine (Montera) DeAngelo. John was a 1955 graduate of the New York School of Printing where he learned the art of calligraphy and engraving. He started his career at Chelsea Engraving in Manhattan, NY where he used his craft to create custom invitations for many well-known New York hotels. John also served his country in the US Army. He and his family moved to Bethlehem in 1965 and he worked for the Bethlehem Steel printery for 20 years. He continued working in the print shop at Blue Cross and Blue Shield, Allentown and finished his printing career at the Northampton School District retiring in 2005. John was an active father and a former President of the Bethlehem Catholic High School Booster Club. In his younger years, he was an avid fly fisherman and hunter. John loved gardening and took pride in his pristine flower beds. Most of all, John loved his family and was especially proud of his grandchildren.
Survivors: Wife; sons, Michael J. DeAngelo of Bethlehem, Christopher DeAngelo and his wife Stephanie of Abington; grandchildren, George, Veronica, Lena, Zachary, Dominic, Adrian, Olena. He was predeceased by his sister and brother-in-law, Grace and Tom DeFilippo and his daughter-in-law, Peg DeAngelo.
Services: Mass of Christian Burial 10:00AM Saturday, April 23, 2022 at St. Elizabeth Roman Catholic Church, 618 Fullerton Ave., Whitehall.
