John J. Burgess, Jr.

John J. Burgess, Jr., 88, of Bethlehem died Friday, March 24, 2023 in St. Luke’s Hospital, Fountain Hill.  He was the husband of the late Joan E. (Warren) Burgess.  Born in Freemansburg, he was the son of the late John J. Burgess, Sr. and Hazel (Becker) Burgess.  A 1953 graduate of Bethlehem Area High School, John was a maintenance worker at Lehigh Valley International Airport for 13 years before retiring in 1999.  Previously he was employed as a machinist at Mack Trucks and the former Sheridan Machine Company.  John was a Lutheran.  He enjoyed fishing, hunting, golfing and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren.  He was always up on current events and politics.  John was also an avid sports fan and was true to his beloved Los Angeles Rams.  He also was an avid NASCAR fan who faithfully watched and cheered on his favorite racer, Kyle Larson every Sunday. 

Survivors: Sons, Gary L. Burgess and his wife Lori of FL, William J. Burgess and his wife Susan of Bethlehem, Craig A. Burgess at home; daughter, Diane L. Koch and her husband Terry of Allentown; 5 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren. 

Services: Memorial Service will be private.  There are no calling hours.  Arrangements by Cantelmi Long Funeral Home, Bethlehem.
