Joan “Jo-Ann" Mary (Alfonso) Kunsman, 84, of Freemansburg, passed away peacefully on Friday April 30, 2021 while in the care of St. Luke’s Hospice House, with her loving daughters by her side. Born in Bethlehem, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Helen (Piripavel) Alfonso. Jo-Ann worked at Weaversville Intensive Treatment Center for 30 years until retiring in 2004. She was an active member of Holy Ghost Catholic Church and the Senior Group. Jo-Ann also volunteered in the kitchen making pirogies and noodles as well as various festivals and bazaars at the church. She loved the holiday’s, especially Christmas and Easter when she enjoyed baking and cooking. Jo-Ann enjoyed decorating, sewing and crocheting, flower-arranging and crafting. She also enjoyed a sunny day by the pool, the beach, girls nights with her daughters and friends as well as the Philadelphia Eagles. Jo-Ann’s life was about enjoying family and friends. She loved her children and their spouses undefinably. Jo-Ann was a faithful servant of God and a caring and compassionate person.
Survivors: She will be lovingly remembered by her daughters Sherry L. Flanagan and husband Paul of Bethlehem and Sandra L. Kunsman-Chavanne and husband Jeff of Bethlehem; 7 loving grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her sons Walter Alfonso, Charles R. Kunsman, Jr. and David M. Kunsman.
Services: A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1 P.M. on Thursday, May 6, 2021 at Holy Ghost Catholic Church, 417 Carlton Avenue, Bethlehem, PA 18015 where the family will receive relatives and friends from 12 Noon until time of the mass. Burial will be private. Joan’s arrangements have been entrusted to the Cantelmi Long Funeral Home, Bethlehem. A memory tribute may be placed at www.cantelmifuneralhome.com.
