Helen Elizabeth (Odum) Torok, 78, of Lehighton, passed away, Friday, May 22, 2020. She was the beloved wife of Tibor Torok having celebrated 52 years of marriage. Born on May 1, 1942 in Sylvania, GA, she was a daughter of the late Walter and Alma (Corley) Odum. Helen was a small business owner, being self-employed as an Information Systems entrepreneur with her husband, Tibor for many years before retiring.
Helen was a member of the Commandment Keepers Ethiopian Hebrew Congregation of Harlem, NY, an Active Member of Temple Israel of Lehighton, Outreach Chairman of Carbon County Democrats for Change and Former Elected Lehighton Borough Councilwoman. She was seen entertaining at Eckley Miners Village and participated as a singer for the Mauch Chunk St. Patrick’s Day Parade, Victorian Festivals, and the American Cancer Society Telethon. She was appointed to the Pennsylvania State University-Extension Board, 4-H development committees, served as a volunteer photographer to the Carbon County Fair for many years and listed in the Who’s Who of American Women/Industry and Finance. Helen had many joys in life, but most importantly were Singing professionally, entertaining, karaoke, skiing, hiking and world travel with her husband, Tibor.
Survivors: In addition to her husband Tibor, Helen will be lovingly missed by her children, Derek Tibor Torok and wife Kelly, and Marika Odum (Torok) Briggs and husband Caleb; grandchildren, Flavius Josephus Grayson, Altonaise Grayson, Natasha Foster, Derek E. Torok, Jasmine Nicole Torok, Isabella Julianna Mignacca, Mason Rainier Briggs and Chase Alexander Briggs; 8 great grandchildren; sister, Mary Louise Hucklebee and Evelyn Kay Francis Odum; aunt, Berdell Denton; many nieces, nephews and special cousins. Helen was predeceased by daughter, Andrea Lynette (Torok) Foster; brothers, Horace Odum and James Maxwell Odum.
Services: A contactless drive thru visitation will be held from 10:30 A.M. to 11:30A.M. on Thursday, May 28, 2020 at Cantelmi Long Funeral Home, 500 Linden Street Bethlehem.
