Grace (Fanning) Condon

Grace (Fanning) Condon, 90, of Bethlehem, passed away peacefully on Friday, September 10, 2021 while in the care of Cedarbrook Nursing Home, Fountain Hill.  She was the devoted wife of the late Alvin E. Condon with whom she shared more than 68 years of loving marriage until his passing on December 28, 2019. Born in Boonton, NJ, on November 6, 1930, Grace was the daughter of the late Margaret (Ritzer) and Richard Fanning.

After graduating from Boonton High School in 1948, Grace worked as a secretary in town for Dixon Brothers.  On July 14, 1951, Grace and Al wed at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel, Boonton.  In 1955, they settled in Rockaway, NJ, with their three children.  In years to come, they had four more children.  Grace also cared for her parents, who lived with her and her family from 1955 until the late 1980’s.  Constant care for as many as ten at once filled her days and nights.  In 1995, Grace and Al moved to Whiting, NJ where they enjoyed their shared life until moving to Bethlehem in 2016.

Grace was an avid reader, particularly of American History and mysteries written by the author, John Grisham.  As she enjoyed nature, she honed her birding skills over decades of journeys in forests and at seasides with Al.  Grace delighted in music, being especially fond of the vocal performances of Andy Williams.  Music provided a relaxing background for the hours she spent working on various jigsaw puzzles.

Survivors:  Grace is survived by her children Debra, Mark, Glenn, Gary, Kevin, Daniel and Christine; seven  grandchildren; nine great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her sisters Helene, Margaret, Caroline and Ruth and her brother, Richard. 

Services: A Visitation will be held on Monday, September 13, 2021 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., including a service and eulogies at 6:00 p.m., at Cantelmi Long Funeral Home, 500 Linden Street, Bethlehem, PA 18018.  A memory tribute may be placed at www.cantelmifuneralhome.com.
