Eleanor Raposo Obituary
Eleanor Raposo, 79, of Bethlehem, passed away peacefully on Friday, February 23, 2018 at St. Luke's Hospital, Fountain Hill. She was the loving wife of Joseph Raposo with whom she shared over 57 years of loving marriage. Born in Cumberland, MD, she was the daughter of the late Leonard and Isabel (Quisenberry) Murphy. Eleanor was a graduate of the University of Maryland, class of 1960, where she earned her bachelors degree in Music Education. She later attended and graduated from Rutgers University, class of 1979, where she was one of the first women to earn a Masters degree in Music Composition. Eleanor was a Professor at Rider University where she taught Music History. She was a member of Faith Presbyterian Church, Emmaus. Eleanor loved music, singing in various church choirs and teaching the handbells.
Survivors: in addition to her husband Joe, she will be lovingly remembered by her sons Steven Raposo and his wife Leni A. Teixeira of Raritan, NJ, David Raposo and his wife Carol of Tewksbury, NJ, Mark Raposo and his wife Wendy of Branchburg, NJ and Douglas Raposo of Bethlehem; sister Sara Monkman of Reisertown, MD and her loving grandchildren Christopher, Zackary, Anthony, Dylan, Logan. Gillian, and Matthew.
Services: A funeral service will be held at 11 A.M. on Wednesday, February, 28, 2018 at the Cantelmi Funeral Home, 1311 Broadway, Fountain Hill, PA 18015. Calling hours will be held on Tuesday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. and also on Wednesday morning from 10 A.M. until time of service at the funeral home. Burial will take place at Fountain Hill Cemetery. A memory tribute may be placed at www.cantelmifuneralhome.com.
Contributions: In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Lehigh Valley Charter High School for the Performing Arts Music Department, 321 E 3rd St, Bethlehem, PA 18015.
