Eastburn "Ed" Shelly Jr. Obituary

 

Eastburn “Ed” Herbert Shelly Jr., 88, of Nazareth, passed away Saturday, February 27, 2021 while in the care of St. Luke’s, Bethlehem. He was the beloved husband of Lois Dianne (Wilkinson) Shelly with whom he shared over 67 years of loving marriage. Born in Bethlehem, he was the son of the late Eastburn H. Sr., Helen Louise (Reppert) Shelly and stepmother, Elizabeth “Betty” (Sheetz) Shelly. 

 

Ed was a 1960 graduate of Moravian College. He worked as a systems analyst and computer programmer for various corporations, retiring as Vice President from Sedgwick Printout Systems in Princeton, NJ. Ed was an active member of the former St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church, Bethlehem. He was a scout master and an avid bowler belonging to a few bowling leagues. Ed honorably served his country in the U.S. Air Force. 

 

Survivors: Ed will be lovingly remembered by his wife Lois; children, Richard Shelly and wife Carol of Bath, Brian Shelly and wife Gail Ann, Valerie Cacciatore and husband Keith, Melanie Olenwine and husband Scott, and Kevin Shelly all of Bethlehem; daughter-in-law, Judi Shelly; 11 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. He was predeceased by son, Barry Shelly and sisters, Elaine Paulus and Louise Kemp.  

 

Services: Services will be private at the convenience of the family. Ed’s arrangements have been entrusted to the Cantelmi Long Funeral Home, Bethlehem. A memory tribute may be placed at www.cantelmifuneralhome.com. 

 

Contributions: In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Department of Development & Alumni Engagement, Moravian College, 1200 Main St., Bethlehem, PA 18018.
