Dr. William George Wert, 39, of Orwigsburg, PA passed away suddenly on Thursday, March 9, 2023. He was the loving husband of Amey (Brown) Wert throughout 12 years of loving marriage. Their family was blessed with three beautiful children, Harrison, Aurora, and Hadley.

Born in Glens Falls, NY, he was the son of Kathleen (Wert) Unterberger and the late William George Wert Sr. Billy was a graduate of North Warren High School, class of 2002. Billy then graduated from SUNY Cortland, with honors, and went on to the Physician Assistant program at DeSales University. Billy began his career as a Physician Assistant and explored several specialties before deciding to work in Critical Care medicine at Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center; there he found inspiration to attend medical school. He earned his Medical Degree at Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine at Seton Hill where he achieved the Pennsylvania Osteopathic Medical Associations Outstanding Student Award in 2017. Dr. Wert then completed his general surgery residency at Geisinger Wyoming Valley, and began his career as a General Surgeon at Geisinger/St. Luke’s Hospital in Orwigsburg, PA.

Billy credited his wife Amey and his three children for inspiring him during his education and residency. In his younger years, Billy was a member of Faith Bible Church in Chestertown, NY and most recently a member of Christ United Methodist Church in Mountain Top, PA.

Billy liked to play the guitar, throw a baseball, and hit golf balls with Harrison. Billy adored his daughters Aurora and Hadley and loved to do anything they wanted to do including shopping, reading books, and going out to eat.
