Born in Glens Falls, NY, he was the son of Kathleen (Wert) Unterberger and the late William George Wert Sr. Billy was a graduate of North Warren High School, class of 2002. Billy then graduated from SUNY Cortland, with honors, and went on to the Physician Assistant program at DeSales University.
