Dorothy Kelly Obituary

Dorothy Catherine Kelly nee Casey, 94, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Friday, February 9, 2024, in Palmer Township. Born on February 24, 1929, in Brooklyn, NY, Dorothy was the daughter of the late William and Catherine (Bell) Casey.

Dorothy was the beloved wife of the late John Thomas Kelly, who preceded her in death on March 19, 2013. Together, they built a life filled with love and laughter, creating a legacy that would live on through their children and grandchildren. Dorothy was a dedicated mother to her sons, John Thomas Kelly, III and his wife Mary of Aldie, VA; Michael Casey Kelly and his wife Cindy of Palmer, PA; Matthew Jude Kelly and his wife Eileen of Deer Park, NY; and Mark James Kelly and his wife Jennifer of Nazareth, PA. She cherished her role as a grandmother to Michael Jr., Sean, Matthew, Thomas, Mairéad, Colleen, Aidan, Hugh, Connor, Deirdre, and Maeve. Her joy multiplied with the arrival of her great-grandchildren, Claire, Brigid, Genevieve, Paige, and Gavin James.

Throughout her life, Dorothy worked as an administrative assistant for the North Babylon School District and Holy Cross Hospital. Her professional life was marked by the same warmth and dedication she showed to her family and friends.

Dorothy was a devout member of Corpus Christi Catholic Church in Aldie, VA. Her faith was a cornerstone of her life, guiding her actions and providing a source of comfort and strength. She lived her faith through her actions, always ready with a supportive word or a helping hand.

As the last of her siblings, Dorothy now joins Charles, John, Richard, Helen, Cecilia, and Francis, in eternal rest. Her light, however, continues to shine brightly in the memories of those who knew her. Dorothy's legacy is one of love, kindness, and friendship. Her presence could light up a room, and her smile was often the antidote to a tough day.

In remembering Dorothy, one cannot help but think of the countless lives she touched. She had a unique ability to make everyone feel seen and heard, and her friendship was a gift she freely gave.

As we say goodbye to Dorothy, we celebrate a life well-lived, a journey marked by an unwavering commitment to her family, her work, and her faith. She was the heart of her family, and her guidance and love will continue to be felt for generations to come.
