Doris L. (Kincaid) Kresge
December 28, 1931 ~ January 19, 2024 (age 92) 92 Years Old
Doris L. (Kincaid) Kresge, 92, of Bethlehem, passed away peacefully on Friday, January 19, 2024, in her home surrounded by her loving family. She was the wife of the late Charles E. Kresge, Sr. Born in Bethlehem, she was the daughter of the late Clatus and Florence Kincaid. A proud graduate of Liberty High School, Doris's commitment to her community was evident early on. She dedicated many years of service to the Bethlehem Area School District, where she worked in the cafeteria.
Doris was an active member of Trinity United Church of Christ, where her faith and fellowship were cornerstones of her existence. Her love for reading and tackling word search puzzles provided her with endless hours of joy.
She could be found daily in the company of her sister-in-law and dearest friend, Janet Kresge, as they cheered on the Phillies or tapped their feet to the rhythm of Polka music bands. Janet was more than family to Doris; she was the sister she never had, and their bond was a source of immense happiness and comfort.
A matriarch in the truest sense, Doris was the heart of her family. Her days were often spent ensuring her children were taken to baseball and football practices in the family's Vista Cruiser or orchestrating the many Sunday trips that would become cherished memories. Her generosity knew no bounds, and her role as a mother and grandmother was imbued with love, warmth, and the kind of support that only the most devoted family member could provide.
Doris's strength was as legendary as her kindness. She faced her battle with cancer with the same tenacity and grace that characterized her entire life. In the face of adversity, she remained a "tough cookie," never losing her ability to inspire and comfort those around her. Her resilience was matched only by her capacity for love, making her not only an anchor for her family but also an example of courage for all who knew her.
Doris has left this world for a place of eternal peace and rest. The good Lord is indeed receiving a gem of a woman, one whose light will continue to shine in the hearts of her family, friends, and all those touched by her extraordinary life.
Survivors: She is survived by her devoted sons, Charles E. Kresge, Jr. and his wife Karen of Northampton, and Bruce A. Kresge of Bethlehem. Her daughters, Donna L. Kresge of Bethlehem, and Carol A. Hilton, along with her husband Joseph of Allentown. Doris's life was further enriched by the joy of her four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Her son, Todd W. Kresge, preceded her in death.
