Donald Oplinger Obituary

Donald F. Oplinger, 69, of Allentown passed away on Saturday, March 16, 2024.  Born in Allentown, he was the son of the late Donald E. and Eugenia (Cosmos) Oplinger.  After graduating in 1972 from William Allen High School, Donald began a career at Bell telephone retiring as a telephone installer from A.T. & T.  He enjoyed hosting his weekly poker games, fishing, woodworking, playing pool and darts and going to the Franklin Social Club.  Donald spent many years working as a backstage crewmember at both Miller Symphony Hall and the Allentown Fair, meeting many famous people.  He loved spending time at family gatherings watching his nieces and nephews play.

Survivors: Brothers, John M. Oplinger of Allentown, Stephen G. Oplinger and his wife Robin of Macungie; sister, Michele A. Joseph and her husband James of Allentown; nieces, Larissa, Keisha wife of Chris Davis, Nadia wife of Mike Pletz, Tabitha, Amy wife of Anthony Almes; nephew, Michael Oplinger and his wife Somer; great nieces, Josie, Hailey, Lydia; great nephews, Corbin, Miles, Andrew, Calvin, Coleman and William.  He was predeceased by his brother, Michael. 

Service: To honor Donald’s wishes his service will be private. There are no calling hours.  Arrangements are being handled by the Cantelmi Long Funeral Home, Bethlehem.  Please record a memory at www.cantelmifuneralhome.com.
