Charles “Charlie” M. Bowman, Sr., 90, of Freemansburg, passed away on Saturday, March 18, 2023 in the care of Northampton Post Acute, Easton. He was the widower of Rose (Weinperl) Reccek Bowman. Born on August 11, 1932 in Bethlehem, he was a son of the late Howard and Emma (Gabron) Bowman.
Charlie honorably served his country in the U.S. Marines. He worked as a police officer for the Freemansburg Police Department for many years, where he served as the Chief Officer. He eventually went to work at Champion Spark Plugs for several years until he retired. Charlie was a former Mayor of Freemansburg, and served on the Freemansburg Council for many years. He was a life member of the former Trinity U.C.C., Freemansburg, the American Legion, and Steel City Gun Club. He was a member of St. Thomas U.C.C., Freemansburg. Charlie was an avid fisherman and hunter.
Survivors: Charlie will be remembered by his son, Charles M. Bowman, Jr and wife Loretta of Bethlehem Twp; stepchildren, Kathleen Dreisigmeyer of Freemansburg, and Darryl Reccek Sr., and wife Lynn of Bethlehem; grandchildren, Raymond Dreisigmeyer and wife Shelly, Brian Dreisigmeyer and wife Denise, Darryl Reccek Jr., and wife Melissa, Sherry Buss and husband Rick, Michelle Carlough and husband Tom, Melissa Bowman, Ian Thomas, and Casey Cesari; great grandchildren, Matthew Dreisigmeyer Sr. and fiancé Miranda Kirchner, Hayley Dreisigmeyer, Nathan Bowman, and Teagan Carlough, Tanner, Trevor Buss, Loren Cesari, and Jane Cesari; great great grandchildren, Matthew Dreisigmeyer Jr., and Jaylin Kirchner.
Services: A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 1, 2023 at 11:00 A.M. at Cantelmi Long Funeral Home, 500 Linden St. Bethlehem where the family will receive friends and relatives from 9:00A.M. until the time of service.
