Carmelo J. Giovenco

Carmelo Joseph Giovenco, 79, of Whitehall Twp., passed away on Tuesday, September 5, 2023. He was the beloved husband of Karen (Recker) Giovenco with whom he shared over 12 years of loving marriage. Born in Brooklyn, NY on December 13, 1943 he was the son of the late Joseph and Anne (Kubica) Giovenco.

Carmelo worked for Bethlehem Steel in the payments and benefits department, and later as a moving consultant for O’Brien’s Moving and Storage until he retired in 2022. He was an avid Dodgers and NY Giants fan; he loved to cook and had a passion for baseball.

Survivors:  Carmelo will be lovingly remembered by his wife Karen; sons from his former marriage to Bernadette, Carmelo J. Giovenco Jr. and his wife Victoria, and Christopher P. Giovenco and his wife Beth; grandchildren, Ryan, Gabriel, Jack, Alessandra; sister, Patricia “Patty” Giovenco and her husband Hugh McCarten; brother-in-law, Marvin Benner. He was predeceased by his sister, Caroline Benner.

Services: A Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, September 13, 2023 at 11:00 AM at Cantelmi Funeral Home, 1311 Broadway, Fountain Hill PA 18015 where the family will receive relatives and friends from 10:00 AM until the time of service. Burial will follow at Fountain Hill Cemetery. A memory tribute may be placed at www.cantelmifuneralhome.com.
