Arlene Hahn Rohland Obituary

Arlene Hahn Rohland, 95, of Bethlehem, died on Friday, September 2, 2022. Born in Bethlehem, PA on November 16, 1926, the daughter of the late George B. and Elva (Barthol) Hahn. Her husband, the late Harry S. Rohland died December 21, 1965 and her long-time companion, Louis Shivek died December 12, 2008. Arlene graduated from Liberty High School in 1944. She was a medical secretary to Charles F. Snyder, Jr., M.D. for 24 years. Her first employment was with the Draft Board during World War II, followed by clerical work for the Lehigh & New England Railroad. She was a member of Trinity Ev. Lutheran Church, Hecktown, where she formerly served as Church Secretary, Organist, member of the Church Council, World Hunger Chair Person, Prayer Chain and Adult Sunday School Class. She was the first Lay Advisor to the former Luther League of the Bethlehem District of the Ev. Lutheran Churches from 1962-66. Jeffrey Parks served as Youth President/Chairman during this time. She was the first president of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Hecktown Volunteer Fire Company in 1956; and was a life member of the former Senior Centers of Bethlehem where she served as Volunteer Tour Director for their trips and awarded the Volunteer of the Year Award in 2000.

 

Survivors are a daughter, Judith M., wife of David N. Carr of Palmer Township; son, David S. Rohland and his wife, Cyndi (Tafel) of Mohnton, PA; a step-daughter, Janet M. Hoffert of Bethlehem, a step son-in-law, Gerald C. Yob of Freemansburg, 5 grandchildren, 5 step-grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, 6 step-great grandchildren, 2 step-great, great grandchildren., brothers Harold H. Hahn of Bethlehem, Earl G. Hahn and his wife Colleen of Richboro, PA.   She was preceded in death by a step-daughter, Doris M. Yob, a step-son-in-law, Roland Hoffert, brothers and sisters-in-law Paul and Eleanor Hahn, Lester and Jeanette Hahn, and Barbara Hahn.  She will also be missed by many nieces and nephews and extended family whom she loved dearly.

 

Services: Family and friends are invited to a Celebration of Life Service beginning at 12 Noon on Saturday October 1, 2022 at Trinity Ev. Lutheran Church, 323 Nazareth Pike (Hecktown) Bethlehem, PA 18020 where the family will receive relatives and friends from 11 A.M. until time of the service in the church. Arlene’s arrangements have been entrusted to the Cantelmi Long Funeral Home, Bethlehem. A memory tribute may be placed at www.cantelmifuneralhome.com.
