Anna Marie Sorrentino

Anna Marie Sorrentino, 82, passed away on Saturday, September 29th surrounded in her final days by her family and friends in her hometown of Bethlehem. She was born March 5, 1936 to the late Pompelio and Louisa (Castiello) Sorrentino. Her life was filled with Italian tradition and love which she passed onto the family as our surviving matriarch. She enjoyed ensuring we all appreciated our rich heritage stemming from her grandparents, Pasquale and Anna Marie (Lanza) Castiello, who came from Montecalvo Irpino, Italy and rose to found the Castiello Bank on 4th Street in Bethlehem. The family was deeply involved with Our Lady of Pompeii Church of the Holy Rosary, where Anna Marie was a long time member member and its Holy Rosary Sodality. The joy of her life was spent caring and supporting family, cooking, baking and taking on many active positions with the church. Anna Marie graduated from Bethlehem Area Catholic High School class of 1954 and had attended Moravian College studying business. She was employed by Bethlehem Steel as an Executive Assistant in Human Resources until her retirement. She then worked for the Globe Times as Head of Personnel. During several recent years living with her niece, Linda, and George Leayman in Hamburg, NY, she was an active member of Basilica of Our Lady of Victory and St. Francis of Assisi. She was preceded in death by her sisters, Louise "Tootie" Pribulka, Gloria Weil, Jean Malozi and Cecelia Sorrentino, and niece, Joan Steiner.
SURVIVORS: She is survived by her nieces and nephews; great nieces and nephews.
SERVICES: A viewing will be held on Thursday, October 4, 2018, from 9 - 10 AM from Cantelmi Funeral Home, 1311 Broadway Fountain Hill, followed by a 10:30 AM Mass of Christian Burial at Holy Ghost Catholic Church, 417 Carlton Ave., Bethlehem. Her burial will follow at Holy Saviour Cemetery. A memorial tribute may be placed at www.cantelmifuneralhome.com.
