Vera
Mencigar
Feb 19, 1939 — Jun 2, 2025
With profound grace and the peaceful passing of Vera Mencigar on June 3, 2025, at St. Luke's Hospital in Allentown, we honor a life richly lived and deeply cherished. Born in the picturesque city of Strasbourg, France, on February 19, 1939, to Peter and Veronica (Fartel) Carni, before moving to Stuttgart, Germany, and eventually back to Prekmurje, Slovenia, and then to America in 1962, Vera's life was a tapestry of dedication, love, and spirited community involvement that touched many.
A beacon of strength and resilience, Vera shared 38 wonderful years of marriage with her beloved husband, Alojz "Louie" Mencigar, until his passing on June 16, 2006. Their union began in Germany was a testament to enduring love and partnership, and together they built a legacy of family and shared values that continue to resonate through their son, Joseph "Pete" Mencigar, who survives her. Vera is predeceased by distance relatives in Slovenia.
Vera's professional journey was characterized by her meticulous craftsmanship as a sewer at the former Greif Company, where she was known for her attention to detail and unwavering work ethic. Her colleagues remember her as a reliable and supportive presence, always ready to lend a hand or share a kind word.
Beyond her work, Vera found joy and purpose in her involvement with the former St. John Windish Lutheran Church. As a member and part of the Altar Society, she dedicated herself to the church community, participating in events and activities that nurtured her faith and fellowship. Her commitment to her faith was evident in her everyday actions and the gracious way she treated everyone she met.
Vera found beauty in her garden and had a special talent for crocheting and knitting, especially hats.
