Obituary

Thomas Sames Obituary Thomas L. Sames, known affectionately as Tom to his friends and family, passed away peacefully on July 14, 2024, at the age of 89, in the comfort of his home surrounded by his loving family. Born on August 25, 1934, in Fountain Hill, Tom was a man whose life was defined by dedication to his family, service to his country, and a passion for life's simple pleasures. Tom graduated from Fountain Hill High School in the class of 1952, where he was known for his quick wit and kind heart. After high school, he honorably served in the United States Army, a period of his life that instilled in him a sense of duty and pride that he carried throughout his years. Following his military service, Tom began a long and distinguished career at Spirax Sarco, where he dedicated over 40 years of his life. His commitment to his work was matched only by his commitment to his family and community. He was the beloved husband of over 65 years to Shirley (Hoey) Sames, and together they built a life filled with love and laughter. Tom was a devoted father to his children, Laurie Cohrac and her husband David, Heidi Casciano and her husband William, and Michael Sames and his wife Mary. He cherished his role as a grandfather to Jenna Casciano, Erin Casciano, and Rebecca Bachman, and as a great-grandfather to Isabel Scott, Daniel Scott, Thomas and Lily Bachman. Tom was predeceased by his granddaughter Amanda Scott, parents Lloyd and Mabel (Haines) Sames and sister Nancy Ryan. An enthusiastic sports fan, Tom's allegiance to the Philadelphia Eagles and Phillies was unwavering. He found excitement watching and attending auto races and took great pride in supporting Liberty High School and the Grenadier Band, reveling in the local talent and community spirit. Tom's love for the outdoors was evident to all who knew him; he found peace and contentment in the beauty of nature, whether it was a quiet morning walk with his dog Cody or a family picnic under the open sky. Tom's life was a testament to the values he held dear: family, service, and joy in everyday moments. He was a man who led by example, showing kindness and generosity to all. His legacy is one of love and commitment, and he will be deeply missed by those who were fortunate enough to know him.
