Saturnina Martinez, age 89, born on July 7, 1936, in the beautiful town of Patillas, Puerto Rico, passed away peacefully on February 15, 2026, at St. Luke's Hospice House in Bethlehem, surrounded by her loving family. Saturnina's life was a testament to her strength, love, and devotion to her family, friends, community, and church.

Throughout her life, Saturnina was a talented seamstress, a craft she honed over many years with dedication and passion. She worked at the Holtz & Company and SureFit where her skillful hands brought beauty and precision to every garment she touched. After retiring from her seamstress career, she continued to serve her community by working at the YMCA daycare for 15 years until she was 79 years old. Her caring nature made her a favorite among the children and parents alike.

Saturnina's faith was a cornerstone of her life. A devout member of Holy Infancy Catholic Church, she was actively involved in La Cofradia del Sagrado Corazon de Jesus and Cursillo. Her spirituality was a source of comfort and inspiration to her family and all who knew her.

In her free time, Saturnina found solace in her garden, surrounded by the flowers she so deeply loved. Sewing remained a favorite pastime, and she often created beautiful pieces for her family and friends. Yet, nothing compared to the joy she felt when spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Each moment with them was cherished and filled with laughter and love.

Survivors: She was the cherished matriarch of a large and loving family. Saturnina was survived by her sons, Olegario "Gary" Martinez, Jr. (Tracy) of Freeburg, PA, Carmelo Jaime Martinez (Dolores) of Chester Springs, PA, and Dennis Martinez (Tangelina) of Huntsville, NC. Her daughters, Janile M. Wiest (Bernard P., Jr.) of Heathville, VA, and Carol Martinez of Bethlehem, PA, will forever hold their mother's memory in their hearts. She was also a beloved sister to sister, Frances Huertas, and brother, Felix Huertas, both of Puerto Rico. Her legacy continues through her eleven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren who will carry on her spirit of compassion and vivacity. Saturnina was predeceased by her dedicated parents, Juan and Cruz (de la Cruz) Huertas, and her loving husband of 53 years, Olegario Martinez, who passed away on November 4, 2009. She was also preceded in death by her siblings, Isabelo Huertas, Libertad Buskirk, Pedro Huertas, Petra Gonzalez, Eusebio Huertas, Lucia Gonzalez, Sophia Huertas, Carmelo L. Huertas, and Daniel Huertas.

Services: Calling hours will be held on Thursday, February 19, 2026 from 7 P.M. to 9 P.M. at Cantelmi Long Funeral Home, 500 Linden Street, Bethlehem, PA 18018 and also on Friday, February 20, 2026 from 8:45 A.M. to 9:45 A.M. at Holy Infancy Catholic Church, 312 E. Fourth Street, Bethlehem, PA 18015, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 A.M. Interment will conclude services at Holy Saviour Cemetery, 2527 Linden Street, Bethlehem, PA 18017.
