Richard B. Markowitz, son of Frank and Catherine, died at Lehigh Valley Hospice on January 30, 2026. He played high school basketball at Central Catholic in Allentown, PA and was on the team that won the state championship two years in a row. He continued on at Long Beach City (CA) College for two years and won the state championship for those years as well. He then played basketball at George Washington University for the next two years and graduated from there. After college, he played basketball while serving in the Marine Corps and left the Marines as a Captain. He is survived by wife Shirley of 60 years, son, Nick and daughter, Laura.
