Obituary

Randy W. Snyder, 72, of Allentown died peacefully surrounded by the love of his family, friends and his beloved pets. He was the husband of Karen L. (Flahart) Snyder with whom he celebrated 42 years of marriage on July 20, 2026. Born in Egypt, PA, Randy was the son of the late William and Harriet (Steiner) Snyder. After graduation from Dieruff High School in 1972, he found work as a bricklayer. In 1974 Randy began a career in law enforcement as a corrections officer at the Lehigh County Prison, a position he held for 38 years until his retirement in 2012. He was a graduate of the Citizens Police Academy and the Senior Citizens Police Academy both in Allentown. He was a member of the U.S. Concealed Carry Association and the National Rifle Association. Randy had quite a collection of guns and knives.

He was a former member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church where he sang on the choir for many years. Randy was devoted to God, his family and nature. He had a fondness for birds of prey and enjoyed spending time at Hawk Mountain and the Native American Festivals in Allentown. Randy was a prankster and practical joker. He loved listening to 1960's and 1970's music. One of his favorites was John Denver. Randy knew the importance of being kind to everyone. He was a plasma and platelet donor and was certified to have donated 10.13 Gallons of Blood to the Miller-Keystone Blood Center. What Randy enjoyed most were family gatherings where he could be found getting the charcoal grill started for a helping of hamburgers and hot dogs and maybe marsh mellows. He will be missed by family, his canine and feline companions and his many friends.
