Patricia A.
Hanna
Jun 16, 1951 — Dec 16, 2025
Patricia A. (Horvath) Hanna, affectionately known as Pat to her friends and loved ones, left this world peacefully on December 16, 2025, at the age of 74. Born on June 16, 1951, in Allentown, Pat was a beacon of light and joy to all who had the pleasure of knowing her. She was the cherished daughter of the late Frank and Annabelle Mae (Reichelderfer) Horvath, and she carried the warmth of her family's love throughout her life.
Pat's journey through life was marked by her dedication to education and her unwavering love for her family. A proud graduate of Dieruff High School, class of 1969, she continued her academic pursuits at Moravian University, class of 1973, where she earned her bachelor's degree in Elementary Education. Her passion for teaching led her to a fulfilling early career with the Bethlehem Area School District, where she touched the lives of countless students at Fountain Hill Elementary School.
Beyond the classroom, Pat's love for books and reading was woven into every part of her life. Her home reflected that passion, with a vast personal library filled with various genres of literature. She also cherished children's literature, each book a testament to her lifelong devotion to learning and imagination.
That same love extended into her work, following teaching. She was the proud owner of the former Barclay Booksellers in Emmaus, a haven for book lovers shaped by her thoughtful care and eye for meaningful stories. Her passion for literature also led her to the iconic Moravian Book Store on Main Street in Bethlehem, where she shared her knowledge and warmth with all who passed through its doors. Earlier in her career, Pat's kind and welcoming presence was fondly remembered by many who visited Hess's Department Store, where she was the Bridal Registrar, and where her genuine spirit left a lasting impression.
Pat's life was rich with interests and hobbies that reflected her vibrant personality. A self-proclaimed Tom Jones #1 fan, she reveled in his music, attending concerts and shows whenever she could. Her love for the arts extended to needlepoint, cross-stitch, and knitting, crafts through which she created countless treasures for her friends and family.
At home, Pat was in her element. She took great pride in her home, a Craftsman Bungalow, and yard and her garden, nurturing both with the same care and attention she gave to her students and loved ones. An animal lover and activist, Pat's compassion for all living creatures was evident in her support for animal welfare. Her home was filled with the love of her pets, and she cherished the memories of her dogs Hansel, Bonnie, and Gretel. Traveling brought her great joy, especially her trips to Cape Cod and Virginia, where she visited her beloved horse, Hansel.
Pat's faith was an integral part of her life. She was a devoted member of St. Timothy Evangelical Lutheran Church in Allentown, where her presence will be deeply missed by her church family.
Above all, Pat's heart belonged to her devoted husband of more than 52 years, Tony Hanna, who loved her fiercely and cared for her with unwavering tenderness. Tony was her constant, her protector, and her greatest source of comfort. Together, they built a life rooted in deep love, laughter, and shared dreams. Their marriage was a true partnership in every sense, marked by loyalty, devotion, and an unbreakable bond. Tony's love for Pat was profound, selfless, and enduring – and it will carry her memory forward forever.
In addition to her beloved husband, Pat will be lovingly remembered by her many extended family members and dear friends, all of whom were touched by her warmth, kindness, a generous spirit, and most of all, her stories. Despite her health challenges, she loved sharing her many life experiences.
