Obituary

Odete (Costa) Kelly, 72, of Naples, Florida, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on June 5, 2026, at her residence in Upper Saucon Township, Pennsylvania. Born on October 10, 1953, in Porto, Portugal, she was the daughter of the late Francisco and Rosa Costa.

Odete lived a life defined by creativity, curiosity, generosity, and a deep commitment to family and community. A graduate of The Polytechnic Institute of Porto, she brought intelligence, determination, and grace to all she pursued.

For more than 43 years, she shared a loving marriage with her husband, Peter Kelly. Together they built a life centered on family, philanthropy, and service. She was a devoted mother to her daughter, Joana Kelly, and son-in-law, Chris Juby, and a proud grandmother to Hugo Kelly-Juby, who brought her immense joy. She is also survived by her sister, Cristina Martins, and her family.

Odete was an avid knitter and lifelong reader. She found joy in making, learning, and exploring. She loved to travel and embraced new places, cultures, and experiences with curiosity and enthusiasm, having lived in Portugal, England, France, the United States, Singapore, Thailand, and the Netherlands.

Philanthropy was at the heart of her life. She and Peter supported numerous organizations dedicated to health care, education, the arts, and community service, including Lehigh Valley Health Network, St. Luke's University Health Network, Historic Bethlehem Museums & Sites, the Allentown Art Museum, and the Guadalupe Center in Naples, Florida. Their generosity helped establish the Peter and Odete Kelly Center for Personalized Cancer Immunotherapy, reflecting her commitment to advancing cancer research and improving patients' lives.

Above all, Odete was devoted to the people she loved. She will be remembered for her warmth, kindness, and unwavering support of family and friends. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Her legacy of love, service, and generosity will endure in the many lives she touched.

A Celebration of Odete's life will be held at a later date. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Cantelmi Long Funeral Home, Bethlehem. A memory tribute may be placed at www.cantelmifuneralhome.com.
