Michele I.
Kern
Feb 29, 1960 — Jun 13, 2026
Michele "Shelly" I. (Raab) Kern, 66, of the Bethlehem area, passed away on June 13, 2026. Born on February 29, 1960, in Bethlehem, PA, she was the daughter of the late John K. Raab and the late Janette Rinker.
Shelly was the kind of person whose care for others expressed itself in quiet, consistent ways. Her green thumb filled her home with life, and her kitchen was a place of warmth and creativity, where her baked goods brought joy to anyone fortunate enough to share in them. She was a devoted bingo player, and Sunday breakfast with her family was a tradition she held close, a simple and dependable reminder of what mattered most to her.
Beyond her home, she gave her time freely to her community as a proud member of the East Lawn Fire Company, the Hecktown Fire Company, and the Nazareth VFW. Her involvement in these organizations was a natural extension of who she was: someone who believed in showing up and standing alongside her neighbors. She spent her working years as an assembler at B. Braun Medical and later served the students of the Nazareth School District as a cafeteria worker, roles that reflected her steady work ethic and her genuine care for those around her.
Shelly was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, John Raab, Jr.; and her brothers-in-law, William Bealer and John Breidinger.
She is survived by her husband, Ethan A. Kern, Jr.; her sons, Justin Fenstermacher and Tyler Kern; her sisters, Donna Bealer and Frances Campanella; and her grandchildren, Ford Fenstermacher and Everly Kern.
She will be remembered for the warmth she brought to her home and the quiet ways she showed up for the people she loved.
