Michael Shapiro Obituary Michael Sanford Shapiro, 76, of Bethlehem, PA, passed away on July 15, 2024 at Saint Lukes Hospital in Bethlehem after a brief illness. Born in Newark, NJ, Michael was the son of Sadie and Sol Shapiro. He graduated from Weequahic High School before attending Seton Hall University and earning a bachelor's degree in Marketing and Accounting. He later enlisted as a reservist with the U.S. Army for 6 years, earning awards as a markman and working in Army hospitals during the Vietnam War. Michael spent his civilian life working many jobs, including as a substitute teacher, manager at Dominos, working at a racetrack, as a house painter, and a window washer, in both Union County, NJ and the Lehigh Valley, PA. He loved going to the beach, eating Chinese, fishing, seeing his friends and customers, and being with his family. Michael is survived by Martha Figueroa; son Neil Shapiro (Madeline); son Stanley Shapiro (Cambree); stepson Gilbert (Rebecca); grandson Theo; granddaughter Shapiro; and step-grandchildren Abbegail, Alexander, and Samuel. He spent the majority of his adult life as a beloved member of the Figueroa family. A memorial service will be held at 11 A.M. on Monday, July 22, 2024, at the Cantelmi-Long Funeral Home, 500 Linden Street, Bethlehem, PA 18018 where the family will receive relatives and friends from 10 A.M. until the service begins.
