Marlene A.
Gehris
Apr 15, 1938 — Mar 28, 2025
Marlene A. (Keich) Gehris, age 86, passed away peacefully on March 28, 2025, while surrounded by her loving family. Born on April 15, 1938, in Coaldale, PA, Marlene was a daughter to the late Solomon and Evelyn (Kunkle) Keich. After marrying her first husband, the late Russell G. Young, Sr., Marlene devoted herself to raising their children, Russell G. Young, Jr., Darlene Moyer (Robert Kramer), and Sharon Eckert (William). Later in life, she found love again with her second late husband, Leon K. Gehris, sharing a meaningful partnership. Marlene's greatest joy was her family, especially her six grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandson, who meant the world to her.
A dedicated worker, Marlene devoted many years of her life to Fairtex Mills where she held the position of winder, and later in her career, she switched paths to a housekeeper at Mountain View Manor, from where she retired in 1997. Marlene cherished her spiritual community as a longtime member of Saint John's EvangelicalCongregational Church in Allentown. She had a deep love for music and found great joy in singing, whether in church services, family gatherings, or simply around the house. Her voice, full of warmth and devotion, brought comfort and happiness to those who heard it. She had a sharp wit, a great sense of humor, and was always there to lend a hand. Beyond her commitments, Marlene found true pleasure in the simple joys of life. She was happiest when in the company of family and friends, her laughter and warmth infectiously brightening each moment. Marlene was preceded in death by her siblings, Arthur Keich, Nancy Falk, and Elvin Keich.
