May 30, 1946 — Jun 17, 2025
Mark Unger, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, and respected dentist, passed away on June 17, 2025, at the age of 79, surrounded by his loving family. Born on May 30, 1946, in Brooklyn, New York, to the late Alfred and Fay (Baron) Unger, Mark's life was a testament to his dedication to his family, his profession, and his community.
Mark's journey through life was shared with his loving wife, Gayle (Heyman) Unger, with whom he enjoyed over 56 years of marriage. Together, they raised three wonderful children: Frank Unger and his wife Cheri, Scott Unger and his fiancé Kristi, and Jenn Bonner and her husband Mike. Mark's legacy continued to flourish through his adored grandchildren: Kirstin, Lauryn, Madison, Briella, Sawyer, Coltyn, Sebastian, Asher, and Fairah, all of whom brought him immense joy and pride.
A graduate of The University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine, Mark dedicated his professional life to the care and well-being of his patients. After honorably serving in the United States Army, he established his own dental practice in Bethlehem, where he was known for his gentle touch and compassionate nature.
Mark's interests and activities outside of his practice were diverse and fulfilling. He was a man who knew how to enjoy life, often found on cruises, attending shows, and savoring buffets in Las Vegas. His love for the thrill of the game was evident in his trips to the Casino, where he shared many memorable moments with friends and family.
Mark enjoyed the simple pleasures of country life. His home was always filled with activity, from peaceful mornings on the farm to afternoons spent supporting his children as they rode and competed in horse shows, memories he treasured deeply.
Deeply committed to his faith, Mark was an active member of Congregation Brith Sholom in Bethlehem. His involvement in the congregation was a reflection of his commitment to his beliefs and the value he placed on community.
Throughout his life, Mark was a beacon of kindness, generosity, and wisdom. His unwavering support and love for his family, his dedication to his patients, and his service to his country and community will be remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
