Kathryn Heimbrook Obituary Kathryn Elizabeth (Heist) Heimbrook, beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on September 14, 2024, at the age of 93. She was born on October 18, 1930, to the late Edward E. and Lila V. (Anders) Heist.
Kathryn graduated from Liberty High School in 1948, and married her husband, William H. Heimbrook, in 1949. They enjoyed a loving marriage for 62 years until his passing in 2011. Together they raised three daughters, Barbara Aswad (David) of Gambrills, MD; Nancy Freeman (William) of Bethlehem Twp.; and Joanne Heimbrook of Allentown. Kathryn worked at Valley Federal Savings for several years, and then went on to National Advertising in Allentown where she worked until she retired.
An excellent seamstress, she loved making clothing for her family and took great care to teach her daughters how to sew. She also enjoyed knitting and crocheting, and produced many beautiful sweaters and afghans. She was proud of winning ribbons at the Allentown Fair for her handiwork.
Kathryn's love for travel was a defining feature of her life. Together with her husband, William, she visited Alaska, Bermuda, and Hawaii as well as much of the continental United States. They also took several trips to Europe, and especially enjoyed Switzerland, Germany, and Norway. These journeys were not only adventures but also a source of cherished memories that Kathryn held dear throughout her life.
Her survivors include her daughters and three granddaughters, Sarah Caine (David), Alison Valish, and Jennifer Pieson, and eight great-grandchildren. Also, her brother Edward Heist of Bethlehem and sister Linda Kresge of Allentown. She was predeceased by her husband, parents, and brother Robert Heist.
