Joseph Violett Obituary Joseph T. Violett, known affectionately as Joe to his friends and family, passed away peacefully in his home in Bethlehem on May 25, 2024, at the age of 86, surrounded by his loving family. Born on October 28, 1937, in Jersey City, NJ, to the late Arthur and Bertha (Johnson) Violett, Joe lived a life marked by devotion to his family, service to his country, and dedication to his work.
Joe attended Snyder High School, and shortly thereafter, he honorably and proudly served in the United States Army. His sense of duty and discipline carried over into his civilian life where he worked for Teamsters Local 641 in Jersey City as a truck driver for over 40 years until his well-earned retirement. Joe's work ethic and commitment to his colleagues were unwavering, and he was respected by all who had the privilege of working alongside him.
Away from his professional life, Joe was first and foremost a family man. He was the beloved husband of the late Deneen P. (Stromberg) Violett and the cherished father of Joseph and his wife Irene, Jeffrey and his wife Patricia, David and his husband David, Thomas and his wife Adrianne, Daniel and his wife Jirehly, and Michael and his wife Olga. His legacy also lives on through his adored grandchildren Michael, Steven, Sarah, Paul, Rachael, Samuel, Inga, and Sven, and his great-grandchildren Cayden and Daniel, who will all remember him as a loving and selfless patriarch. He is also survived by his siblings William Violett and Dorothy Violett, who will hold his memory dear. Joe was predeceased by his daughter Kathryn Violett and siblings Robert, Art, and Ed.
Joe's love for his family was unmatched, and they truly were everything to him. He found joy in the simple pleasures of life, such as enjoying an afternoon nap and the occasional trip to the casino where he shared laughs and good times with friends and family.
Those who knew Joe will remember him as a kind and selfless man, always ready to lend a hand or a listening ear to anyone in need. He was the kind of person who made a lasting impression on everyone he met, and his warmth and generosity knew no bounds. Joe's love and kindness were the cornerstones of his life, and they are the legacy he leaves behind.
