Joan Gordon Obituary Joan S. (Steigerwalt) Gordon, 91, of Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully on June 11, 2024. Born on January 9, 1933, in Lehighton, she was the cherished daughter of the late Wesley and Arlene (Sebring) Steigerwalt. Upon completing her education at St. Luke's School of Nursing, Joan embarked on a dedicated career as a registered nurse. She spent many years serving the Pennsylvania Department of Health in the division of Long Term Care, where her compassionate care and professionalism touched the lives of countless individuals and their families. Joan's commitment to faith was evident in her active participation at Advent Moravian Church in Bethlehem. She joyfully played handbells, engaged in bible study, fulfilled the role of sacristan, and took part in women's fellowship, embodying the spirit of service and community. Family was the cornerstone of Joan's life. She was the loving widow of her late husband, Robert W. Gordon, and a nurturing mother to her children, Diane Chladni (John), Eric Gordon (Debra), Scot Gordon (Anne), Christine Gonzalez (Christian), and her nephew whom she raised, Craig Steigerwalt (Susan). Her legacy continues to live on through her beloved grandchildren, Christopher, Michael, Adam, Patrick, Jacquelyne, Daniel, Joshua, Christopher, Alicia, Megan, and Brandon, as well as her great-grandchildren, Kenneth, Abigail, Bryson, and Maeve. Joan's memory will also be cherished by her sisters, Brenda Pekurny and Sue Ellen Steigerwalt. She now joins in eternal rest her siblings who preceded her in death, Lynn Steigerwalt, Carol Steigerwalt, Janet Snyder, Gayle Pollock, and Norman Steigerwalt. A memorial service will be held on Monday, June 17, 2024 at 11:00 AM at Advent Moravian Church, 3730 Jacksonville Rd, Bethlehem, PA 18017.
