Obituary

Jesse Joseph Gaughran, 54, died unexpectedly in April at his home in San Diego CA. He was born at his parents' home in Arroyo Hondo NM, on November 9, 1971. He is survived by his mother, Jane Gaughran of Bethlehem PA, his father, Richard Gaughran and wife Lucy Bednar of Brodheadsville PA. He is also survived by brother John of Northampton PA, wife Leanne, and children Logan and Emilee; brother Peter of Nazareth PA, and wife Songül; and brother-in-law, Mark Everitt of Greenwich CT, and his children Arabella and Hugo. He was preceded in death by his sister, Sarah Everitt, of Greenwich CT. He leaves behind many members of his extended family and numerous friends on both coasts.

Jesse grew up in Rochester NY and Bethlehem PA. A graduate of Liberty High School, Jesse worked primarily in the food service industry. He loved to share stories of the surprising encounters he often had while tending bar, sometimes finding himself in conversation with revered celebrities, such as Sandy Koufax or Ron Darling. He was a passionate fan of New York sports teams, particularly the Mets, Knicks, and Giants, even when those teams showed little promise of success. He was also an enthusiastic athlete, particularly in baseball and softball. His forceful throws from centerfield were legendary. Friends and family will remember Jesse for his intelligence, his friendly demeanor, his sense of humor, and his often biting wit.

A memorial gathering for Jesse will be held on Saturday, May 23, 2026, from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm at Cantelmi Long Funeral Home, 500 Linden Street, Bethlehem PA, followed by a light lunch at the home of Jane Gaughran, 904 Public Road, in Bethlehem. A memory tribute may be placed at www.cantelmifuneralhome.com.
