Obituary

Janet B. (Rader) Hosfeld, surrounded by her loving family, passed away peacefully on January 29, 2025, at the age of 87 in Gracedale Nursing Home. She was the daughter of the late Willard and Grace (Smith) Rader.

Janet dedicated her life to her family and community. A proud graduate of Liberty High School, she built a fulfilling career at Bethlehem Steel and also worked for State Farm Insurance, Moravian University, and Guardian Life Insurance before retiring. Janet found great joy in conversing with people. She greeted everyone with a smile and with a heart filled with kindness and caring. Her strong work ethic, and her genuine interest in others, left a lasting impact on those who knew her.

Janet shared a loving marriage with her late husband, James D. Hosfeld, and together they created a family filled with love and lasting memories. She is survived by her children, Michael J. Hosfeld and his wife Cheryl, Kim Malia, wife of the late Frank Malia, and Matthew J. Hosfeld and his wife Heather. Being a grandmother was one of Janet's greatest joys, and she treasured every moment spent with her grandchildren—Carly and her husband Ray Olivo, Shane, Logan, Caden, Liam, and Rowan—always offering them her love and support.

As a sibling, Janet brought joy and laughter into the lives of her late sister Barbara Mastrolia, her late brother Scott Rader and his wife Barbara. Her warmth and presence were a source of comfort, and her memory will be treasured always.

A woman of faith, Janet was a devoted member of St. Stephen's Lutheran Church in Bethlehem, drawing strength and solace from her spirituality. She was also a lifelong member of Beta Sigma Phi, a social sorority, and was honored with the Diamond Circle Award for her 60 years of steadfast devotion.
