Harold 'Harry' Powell Obituary Harold 'Harry' Powell, affectionately known by his family as 'Skip,' passed away on October 8, 2024, at the age of 74, surrounded by his loving family. Born on January 30, 1950, he was the son of the late Henry Powell and Janet (Bachman) Gross.
Harry was a proud graduate of Freedom High School, class of 1968. After high school, he honorably served his country in the United States Marines Corps, a period of his life that instilled in him a sense of discipline and service that he carried throughout his life. He was a respected Mason with the Bethlehem Lodge 283.
Harry was committed to his 38-year career at Fritch Inc., where he ascended to the role of Vice President. He loved his co-workers and enjoyed every day with them. His dedication to community and service was demonstrated as he volunteered for decades at the FBTAA, serving as the organizations President for a number of years. Harry was also a former planning commission member for Bethlehem Township, where he helped shape the town he called home.
An avid outdoorsman, Harry loved fishing, hunting, and simply being in the embrace of nature. His passion for the outdoors was paralleled by his culinary skills, as he loved to cook for family and friends, always eager to share a meal and a story. Harry's love for life extended to his memberships with the North End Wanderers and Lehman Lake Rod & Gun Club.
Harry's love for his family was the cornerstone of his life. He was the beloved husband of over 52 years to Jeanne (Nagy) Powell. Together, they raised three children: Eric Powell, Shaun Powell and his wife Jacqueline, and Stefanie Sneeringer and her husband Adam. He was a cherished brother to Phyllis Andrews and her husband Joseph, and Diane Williams. Harry's joy was multiplied with the arrival of his loving grandchildren Madeline, Claudia, Levi, and Everett, who will miss their grandfather's guidance and gentle spirit. Harry was preceded in death by his father Henry, mother Janet, stepfather Leonard Gross, stepmother Mildred Powell, and brother Bryan Powell.
His friend put it best, saying "He was a good man, loved his family tremendously, and was a great friend"
