Obituary

Fermina Figueroa, born on April 4, 1934, in Patillas, Puerto Rico, passed away on May 18, 2026, in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, leaving behind a legacy of faith, warmth, and devotion to family and community. She was the beloved daughter of the late Flugencio Figueroa and Jacinta Figueroa Silva. Fermina grew up surrounded by the strong values, resilience, and close family bonds that would shape the rest of her life. Those who knew her will remember a woman of steady character and gentle strength, someone who carried herself with dignity and grace through every season of life.

Fermina was known for her warm personality and her sincere interest in others. She loved speaking and talking with people, and she had a way of making others feel welcomed and heard. Her conversations were often filled with kindness, encouragement, and a genuine concern for the well-being of those around her. She had a gift for connection, and her presence brought comfort and familiarity to many. Whether speaking with family, friends, neighbors, or members of her faith community, she offered her time and attention freely and with a generous heart.

Her faith as Jehovah's Witness was an important part of her life, and she remained active in preaching throughout her years. Fermina's devotion to her beliefs guided the way she lived, and she shared her faith through both word and example. She was steadfast in her commitment, and her spiritual life brought meaning, purpose, and strength to her journey. Those who heard her speak or witnessed her dedication to preaching will remember her sincerity and conviction.

Fermina also enjoyed crocheting, a pastime that reflected both her patience and her creativity. Through her hands, she created pieces that carried care and intention, and this quiet hobby was one of the many ways she expressed love and thoughtfulness. Her crocheting, like so much else in her life, was done with dedication and heart.

Fermina was united in marriage to her husband, Ernesto Colon Morales, who predeceased her. Together, they shared a life marked by love, commitment, and the blessings of a growing family. She cherished her role as a wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, and she embraced each of these roles with tenderness and devotion. Her family was the center of her world, and she found great joy in the relationships she nurtured throughout her life.

SURVIVORS: Fermina is lovingly survived by her sons, Wilfredo Colon and Hector Colon. Fermina also leaves behind four grandchildren, who brought her great pride and happiness. She was one of eighteen siblings, and her life was enriched by the bonds of a large and loving family. The many connections she maintained with her siblings and extended relatives were an important part of her life, and she valued the closeness and support that family provided. In addition to her parents and husband, Fermina is predeceased by her daughters: Maria Males and Iris V. Lozaida.
