Edward E.
Stech, Iii
Jun 4, 1946 — May 12, 2026
Edward E. Stech, III, 79, of Fountain Hill, passed away on May 12, 2026. Born on June 4, 1946, he was the son of the late Edward E. Stech, Jr. and Marjorie A. (Yagiello) Stech. Ed was a graduate of Hellertown-Lower Saucon High School.
Ed worked for many years at Bethlehem Steel before later working for Beth-Allen Scaffold & Equipment until his retirement. He was known as a hardworking and dependable man who took great pride in his work and in providing for his family.
Above all, Ed was devoted to his family. He shared more than 39 years of marriage with his beloved wife, Catherine (Ney) Stech. Together they built a life centered on love, laughter, and family. Surviving, in addition to his wife Catherine, are his children, Melissa Stech, Jessie Tocci and her husband Jason, James Edward Stech, Stephen Stech and his wife Martie Baggett, and Annie Bachert and her husband Zachary; his grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and his brother, David P. Stech and his wife Jill Youngken. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his daughter, Maria Catherine Stech.
Ed enjoyed the simple things in life. He loved his late dog, Molly, and could often be found taking walks throughout the neighborhood. In Fountain Hill, he became affectionately known as the unofficial "Mayor of Stanley Avenue," reflecting his friendly personality and the connections he made with so many around him. He also enjoyed working on cars and completing projects around the house, always happiest when keeping busy with his hands.
Ed will be remembered for his warm heart, sense of humor, and unwavering devotion to his family and friends. He leaves behind many cherished memories and will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
The family will receive relatives and friends on Monday, May 18, 2026, from 6 P.M. to 8 P.M. at the Cantelmi Funeral Home, 1311 Broadway Fountain Hill, PA 18015. Burial will be private. A memory tribute may be placed at www.cantelmifuneralhome.com.
