Obituary

Earle J. Johnson, 96 of Bethlehem, passed away peacefully on August 31, 2025, at Lehigh Valley Hospital Muhlenberg. Born on February 21, 1929, in the heart of Bethlehem, Earle was the son of the late Charles and Annamae (McConaghy) Johnson. He was a proud graduate of Liberty High School and furthered his education at the Chicago School of Interior Decorating, where he honed his skills that would later define his professional life.

After honorably serving in the United States Army, Earle took the helm of his father's company, Johnson Decorating Co., in 1963. With a keen eye for design and a deep understanding of his clients' needs, he successfully owned and operated the company for over 55 years until his well-deserved retirement. His entrepreneurial spirit also led him to a successful 10-year stint as a real estate agent, where he helped countless families find their forever homes.

Earle's love for music was a constant throughout his life. He was a talented accordion player and took great pleasure in performing with both the Accordion Pops Orchestra and Concert Orchestra. His musical contributions brought joy to many and will be fondly remembered by those who had the pleasure of hearing him play.

Earle was a member of the Advent Moravian Church in Bethlehem.

Earle was predeceased by his beloved wife, Jacqueline Y. Johnson. He leaves behind a legacy of love and family, survived by his sons, Barry Johnson and his wife, the Rev. Canon Helen Harper, Warren E. Sawyer and his wife Gail, and his granddaughter, Ashley Staab (Sawyer).
