Dorothy 'Pat' Meck Obituary Dorothy H. 'Pat' Meck, a cherished mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on December 10, 2024, at the age of 95 at Berks Heim Nursing and Rehabilitation in Leesport, Pennsylvania. Born on July 5, 1929, in Slateville, PA, to the late William and Margaret (Follweiler) Heffner, Pat's warm spirit and unwavering strength were evident from her early years growing up in a close-knit community. Pat resided in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania in the same home for 70 years.
Pat's journey through life was marked by her dedication to her family, her work, and her many interests. She attended a one-room schoolhouse in Steinsville Pennsylvania before making the daily trip on the train to Slatington High School, where she completed her formal education. After school, Pat's work ethic shone brightly throughout her 30-year tenure as a Bench Hand at Lucent Technologies, formerly known as Western Electric, where she not only contributed to the company's success but also formed lifelong friendships.
Beyond her professional life, Pat was an active member of the Civil Air Patrol during the 1950s, reflecting her love for her country and community. Her commitment to service continued through her involvement with the Telephone Pioneers, where she worked alongside fellow telecommunications professionals in various community projects. Pat's love for life was also expressed through her numerous hobbies. She was an avid bowler and golfer, finding joy in the camaraderie and challenge of the games. Her garden was a testament to her patience and nurturing nature, while her love for puzzles and reading kept her mind sharp and full of wonder.
Pat's legacy is carried on by her loving children, Kris Meck and spouse Cynthia of Lewes, DE; Lori Yoder and spouse John of Fleetwood, PA; and Suzanne Meck of Coplay, PA. Her joy was multiplied by her six grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren, who brought her immeasurable happiness and pride. She was a source of wisdom and love for her family, and her guidance will be deeply missed. Pat was preceded in death by her siblings, Paul E. Heffner, Lester S. Heffner, Warren W.
