Obituary

Charlene A. (Hunter) Koch, aged 79, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on April 23, 2025.

Charlene was the beloved wife of the late Joseph R. Koch. They shared over 50 years of marriage, a beautiful and enduring love that lasted until his passing on May 17, 2024.

Charlene earned a bachelor's degree in education and spent a brief time working as a teacher. She went on to serve as Director of the ASPCA, where her deep love for animals found meaningful and lasting expression. Her passion for community involvement led her to serve on the Bethlehem School Board and as a dedicated member of the League of Women Voters.

Charlene enjoyed arts and crafts, crocheting, and was a devoted music enthusiast. She loved flowers and found joy in nature's beauty. Above all, her heart belonged to her family—especially her grandchildren, who were the light of her life.

She is survived by her children, Daniel Koch and his wife Katherine of Pottstown, and Jennifer Mendiolina and her husband William Nazzaro of Allentown; her grandchildren, Devon A. Koch, Elia Mendiolina, and Julian Mendiolina; her sister, Diane Smith, and her family; and her faithful canine companion, Jake.

Throughout her life, Charlene was known for her warm heart and open arms. She had a remarkable ability to make everyone feel at home, and her presence was a source of calm and strength. Her laughter was infectious, and her wisdom was cherished by many. Charlene's legacy is one of love, laughter, and the precious moments shared with family and friends.
