Benjamin Neil
Potter
Oct 20, 1970 — Apr 8, 2026
Benjamin Neil Potter, known to family and friends as Ben, 55, of Harleysville, died Wednesday, April 8, 2026, at St. Luke's Hospice House, Bethlehem, where the love of his family surrounded him. Ben and his wife RuthE S. (Spitzig) Potter celebrated their 30th wedding anniversary on October 14, 2025. Best of friends from the day they met, Ben and RuthE were a team in every way. Born in Sunbury, PA, he was the son of Mary W. (Walter) Foor of Hagerstown, MD, and the late Neil H. Potter, and stepson of the late Rev. Dr. Terry Foor.
A 1988 graduate of Selinsgrove High School, Ben received his bachelor's degree from Moravian College in 1992. His career began in manufacturing as a purchasing agent for several years before accepting a position in supply chain at Johnson & Johnson. Throughout his 25-year career with J&J, Ben was fortunate to travel the world and build friendships with colleagues across the globe. He held a variety of leadership positions, most recently as Global Product Owner, Plan/Source.
Ben was a former member of Lititz Moravian Church and Advent Lutheran Church in Harleysville, where he served as treasurer, usher, and sang in the Christmas and Easter choirs.
Ben was an avid golfer. Indian Valley Country Club was Ben's home away from home. He enjoyed a phenomenal community of friends there and was a "Two-time, back-to-back, Gordon Cup Champion". He was always happy to exercise those bragging rights. His IVCC friends, college friends, and community friends were in lockstep with Ben every step of the way throughout his illness. His gratitude for their unwavering support was an anchor that held him steady and helped him persevere.
Just prior to Ben's illness, he had embarked on another hobby as he worked to restore "Blanche," a family heirloom 1937 convertible Packard, which had been in the family since she was built. She was part of the Souderton Christmas Parade for two years as the official vehicle for the town mayor.
A lifelong music lover, Ben was a Grateful Deadhead and able to boast that he had seen them over 60 times in his younger years. Ben was also a die-hard Philadelphia Eagles and Philadelphia Phillies fan, but most importantly, he was the very best 'Girl Dad' to AnnE and Emma. Trips to see the Eagles' games each year with his girls were always accompanied by Taylor Swift or Harry Styles blaring on the car radio on the ride home. He was a devoted husband, father, son, brother, uncle, and friend who treasured his family, friends, colleagues, and community.
