Barbara Lawson Higgins, 97, formerly of Pottsville died Saturday, March 1, 2025 at Atria Senior Living, Bethlehem where she resided. She was the widow of Richard Higgins who died in 2015. Born in Pottsville, she was one of seven children born to the late Chester B. "CB" and Henrietta (Caproni) Lawson. A graduate of Pottsville High School in 1945 and Rider College School of Business, Lawrence Township, NJ, Barbara owned and operated "Black Diamond Trophy Company for many years until her retirement. She also was a private secretary to a former member of the United States House of Representatives and also for a former Mayor of Pottsville. Always active in her community, Barbara has served on the Board of Directors of the Schuylkill United Way, the former Pottsville Mission and the Schuylkill County Child Welfare Organization. She also volunteered for the American Heart Association and the American Cancer Society. She was a championship bridge player and was a member of the International Bridge Association. Prior to her husband's death, they enjoyed traveling extensively throughout Europe, and Jamaica was a favorite destination.

Rabuck of MI; nieces and nephews, Barbara Gallagher Stoffa, James P. Gallagher, Richard Rabuck, Carol Rabuck, David C. Lawson, Georgia Lawson Mayer and Barbara Lawson Manchester. She was predeceased by siblings, Chester B. Lawson, Jr., Hermia Lawson Gallagher, Vincent Lawson, Ruth Anne Lawson Morrisey and David Lawson.
