Aziz "Oz" George
Barber
Jul 25, 1946 — Sep 18, 2026
Aziz George "Oz" Barber, 80, of Easton, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully on September 18, 2026, at his residence, surrounded by his family and the love and memories of a life well lived. Born on July 25, 1946, in Amar, Syria, he carried with him throughout his life a quiet strength, a steady presence, and a deep devotion to the people and places that mattered most to him.
Oz spent his early years in Amar, Syria, before building a life in the United States that reflected hard work, discipline, and service. He attended Dieruff High School in Allentown, Pennsylvania, went on to earn an Associate Degree from the former Churchman's Business School in Easton, Pennsylvania, followed by a Bachelor Degree from Ft. Lauderdale University in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. Education was important to him, and he valued the opportunities it provided throughout his life.
A proud veteran, Oz served in the United States Army for 22 1/2 years, rising to the rank of Chief Warrant Officer. His military career was marked by dedication, professionalism, and a deep sense of duty. He carried himself with the quiet confidence of someone who understood responsibility and honored it fully. After retiring from the Army, he continued his years of service to others by working for the United States Postal Service as a Supervisor for 17 years. In every role he held, he was known for his reliability, leadership, and strong work ethic.
Oz attended Palmer Moravian Church where his values were reflected in the way he lived his life with humility, kindness, and respect for others. He appreciated the simple pleasures in life and found happiness in spending time outdoors in warm temperatures where he enjoyed gardening, lawn work, and took pride in caring for his surroundings. These interests brought him comfort and enjoyment, and reflected his love of routine, patience, and the outdoors. In younger years, he enjoyed golf and chess with his sons, bowling as a team sport, and photography where he used his talents to photograph family, friends, and numerous weddings.
SURVIVORS: Oz was the beloved husband of Barbara Marie (Frey) Barber, with whom he shared 56 wonderful years of marriage and a total of 59 ½ years. He was a proud and devoted father to his sons, Christopher "Chris" Barber of Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, and Derek Barber and his significant other, Lilia "Lili" Zamudio, of San Antonio, Texas. He is survived by his sister Georgette Alkhal, her husband Aziz of Whitehall, Pennsylvania and nephews.
