Obituary

Arlene Coughlin, a cherished matriarch, passed away peacefully on February 21, 2025, at the age of 80, surrounded by her loving family. Born on January 10, 1945, in Manhattan, she was the daughter of the late John and Muriel (Colson) Garvey.

She was married to the love of her life, Kieran Coughlin, with whom she built a home filled with warmth, laughter, and unwavering love. Together, they raised their daughters, creating a family rooted in kindness and deep devotion. After Kieran's passing, Arlene carried on his legacy of love, always putting family first and cherishing the traditions they built together.

She devoted much of her career to Manhattan University, working in Advancement Services until her retirement. Outside of work, Arlene found joy in crocheting, reading, and spending time with family and friends. She especially loved shopping and dining out, always treasuring moments shared with loved ones. But above all else, family was the center of Arlene's world. Her greatest joy was being a grandmother, and she embraced every moment she could with her grandchildren—cheering them on in their accomplishments, offering her endless love and wisdom, and creating treasured memories filled with laughter and warmth.

Arlene is survived by her daughters, Jean Marie Vreeland and her husband Rich, and Kerri-Anne Guy and her husband James; her sister, Janet King; and her beloved grandchildren, Jessica, Kaylee, Lindsey, and Steven, who were the light of her life. She was preceded in death by her husband, Kieran Coughlin.
