Obituary

Archie William Hartzell, Sr., 75, of Allentown, Pennsylvania, passed away on October 23, 2026. Born on April 26, 1951, Archie will be remembered for his strong dedication to his family and his love for the outdoors.

A graduate of Liberty High School, Archie embarked on a career path that showcased his leadership and commitment to community service. For 25 years, he was a manager at the family business, Panzell/502 Corp, a children's clothing manufacturing business in Bethlehem, PA. He then shifted to a meaningful role at BARC Developmental Services as a JOBS Manager, where for 23 years, Archie worked to place individuals with developmental disabilities into the workforce, fostering opportunities for those he supported.

Archie's passion for the outdoors and hunting led him to serve with the Pennsylvania Game Commission for 32 years (1987-2019) as a Deputy Wildlife Conservation Officer (retired). In 2010 , he was awarded the Southeast Region's Outstanding Wildlife Conservation Officer. In 2011, he was recognized as Outstanding Deputy of the Year.

Beyond his professional achievements, Archie was a man of remarkable character. His outgoing and charismatic personality left a lasting impression on those he met. His love for the outdoors was matched only by his love for his family, whom he cherished deeply.

Archie is survived by his wife of 54 years, Judy, with whom he shared a lifetime of love. He leaves behind his three children and their spouses: son, Archie & Michele Hartzell, daughter Stacy & Mike Cook, and son, Simon Hartzell & Elizabeth Faria, as well as three grandchildren, Emmett, Samuel, and Francisco.

Archie was predeceased by his parents, James and Lorraine (Wildermuth) Hartzell.
