Antonetta Russo Obituary Antonetta Russo, formerly of Fountain Hill, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by her family, on October 13, 2024, in Wilmington, DE, at the age of 96. Born on April 8, 1928, in the quaint town of Orsara di Puglia, Italy, Antonetta's life journey was marked by her unwavering faith, selfless nature, and the joy she found in the simple pleasures of life. Antonetta's story began in Italy, where she was born to Paolo Fattore and Michelin Del Sonno, both of whom predeceased her. Her path led her to the United States, where she would build a life filled with love, hard work, and dedication to her family. She was the beloved wife of Michelino Russo, who preceded her in death on October 20, 2006. Their marriage was a testament to enduring partnership and mutual respect. Antonetta's legacy is carried on by her loving children: daughter Elisa R. Biondo and her husband Dominic of Bath; daughter Olga R. Waters and her husband John of Annadale, VA; son Alfredo S. and his wife Cheryle of Wilmington, DE; and son Gino Russo and his wife Kimberly of Orefield. Her life was further enriched by her cherished grandchildren Jennifer, Jacelyn, Michael, Danielle, Joel, Andrew, Nicholas, and Makenna, as well as her adored great-grandchildren Zander, Haiti, Luca, Nico, Lana and Cordelia. Antonetta was predeceased by her son Alfredo, who passed away in 1959, leaving a tender spot in her heart. Throughout her life, Antonetta was a hardworking and skilled seamstress in the garment industry, a role she took great pride in. Her work ethic was unparalleled, and she instilled the values of diligence and perseverance in her children. Despite the demands of her career, she was first and foremost a devoted mother and homemaker, always ensuring that her family was cared for with love and attention. Antonetta's faith was the cornerstone of her existence. A devout Catholic, she lived her life as a testament to her beliefs, embodying the virtues of kindness, charity, and humility. Her selfless nature was evident in every interaction, as she always put the needs of others before her own. Proud of her Italian heritage, Antonetta was an incredible cook, often found in the kitchen preparing sumptuous meals that brought her family together around the table. Her recipes were a blend of tradition and love, and they will be passed down for generations to come.
