Obituary

Angelina N. Rivera, age 93, formerly of New Jersey, passed away on July 19, 2026, at her daughter's home, surrounded by the love of her family. Born on November 1, 1932, in Utuado, Puerto Rico, she lived a life marked by devotion, humility, strength, and a deep love for those around her. She was a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, friend and a woman whose gentle spirit and steady presence will be remembered always.

Angelina was the daughter of the late Joaquin Nieves and the late Carmen Nieves Torres, and she was also predeceased by her many loving siblings. From her earliest years, she carried with her the values of hard work, faith, and family devotion that would guide her throughout her life. She brought with her the resilience and warmth that would become hallmarks of her character. Those who knew her understood that she was a woman of quiet dignity, one who met life's challenges with grace and who found joy in caring for others.

For many years, Angelina worked at Rutgers in housekeeping until her retirement. She was known as a dependable and hardworking employee who took pride in doing her work well. Her years of service reflected her strong work ethic and her commitment to providing for her family. She approached her responsibilities with care and consistency, and she earned the respect of those who worked alongside her. Even after retirement, the habits of diligence and generosity that shaped her life remained evident in the way she cared for her home and her loved ones.

In her leisure time, Angelina enjoyed crocheting, puzzles, cooking for her family, and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her home was often made warmer by her care, her cooking, and the comfort she provided to those who gathered there.

SURVIVORS: Angelina's greatest joy was her family. She is survived by her children, Leticia Cruz, Milagros Rivera, Jose Rivera, and Alicia Perez. Her love extended to her grandchildren, Rolando Cruz Jr., Anthony Cruz, Milinda Cruz, and Jonathan LaGuer, all of whom brought great happiness and pride to her life. She also cherished her great-grandchildren, Ralph Michael Cruz, Julian Anthony Cruz, and Jaylisse Mia Cruz, who were a source of delight and whose presence filled her heart with joy. Angelina treasured every moment spent with her family and found special meaning in gathering with them, sharing stories, and offering the comfort of her steady love.
